We're on Matrix instead of Discord. We don't love where Discord is heading — biometric scans, mandatory ID verification, and third-party data handling we didn't sign up for. Matrix is an open, federated protocol where your data stays on the server you choose and nobody harvests your conversations. We'd rather build on something we control.

The web app works instantly in your browser — no install required. Sign in with your GitHub account and you're @you:skillsets.cc. If you already use Matrix on another server, you can join our rooms from there too — that's the federated part.

Public rooms are unencrypted so you get full search, message history, and moderation. Team rooms and DMs are end-to-end encrypted by default.
